The 2023 European Youth League Championship opened in Tallinn

The 13th European Youth League Championship Finals opened on Thursday in Tallinn Estonia.

If I remember correctly, every time we have been in Tallinn for some championship, the weather has been quite rainy and chilly. It was this time too, but the atmosphere at the venue covered the weather and no one minded the weather.

The Kalevi Sports Hall was full of happy and young talents, nearly 100 aged 14-18 from 15 countries—ten teams in both events – in 10m Air Rifle and Air Pistol.

In the Air Rifle event, the participating Teams come from Ukraine, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Finland, Serbia, Austria, Croatia, and Estonia.

In the Air Pistol event, the participating Teams represent Ukraine, Poland, Italy, Spain, Latvia, Sweden, Lithuania, Czechia, Croatia, and Estonia.

–   This is the 1st Final of the European Youth League with 10 teams but it’s the 13th EYL Final. After the first Final in Denmark in 2009, we have visited many countries around Europe and now it’s once again time for us to meet our friends from the Estonian Shooting Sport Federation here in Tallinn. We also welcomed Mrs. Ghislaine Briez, the Chairwoman of the ESC Technical Committee, and the athletes and teams to Tallinn.

–   For many young athletes the League Championship is the first chance to get some international experience. Over the years we have seen many EYLCH athletes on the podium at European Championships, World Championship and even the Youth Olympic Games, reminded Briez.

–   The European Shooting Confederation is very grateful to the Estonian Shooting Sport Federation and all the volunteers for hosting this Final. We have already enjoyed the good organization and the warm hospitality. Mrs. Ghislaine Briez wished all good luck and said to look forward to exciting competitions in the spirit of fair play and friendship. And declared the EYLCH opened.

The competition schedule can be found here.
